St. Croix Community Song Circle

Let's Sing Together During the 4th Annual River Road Farm Crawl!

Singing is an ancient and powerful way for a group of “me’s” to become a “we.”

Lia Falls and Barbara McAfee will lead and teach simple songs, in the aural tradition (no lyric sheets or music to read). All are welcome, whether or not you think of yourself as a singer! **

We will sing songs that celebrate Nature, and being Human; songs that bring us together in the magic and medicine of singing with others. We will listen deeply and we will experience a joy in singing with others, and together we will make beauty!

Age Requirement: Singers of all ages are welcome to attend. Children under age 16 must attend with an adult.

Skill Level: This is for people of any skill level and it is great when there is a mix of inexperienced and experienced singers! In community singing we hold each other up. All are welcome.

Location Details: Philadlephia Community Farm 599 280th St., Osceola WI, 54020 (During the 4th Annual River Road Farm Crawl)

About the hosts:

Lia is a singer and songwriter who has been leading a community song circle in St Croix Falls, Wisconsin for the past 8 years. She teaches Full Voice, Vocal Playground, and Yoga of the Voice in classes and as a private vocal coach. Lia is dedicated to sharing the aural tradition of spreading songs, and to the conviction that singing is everyone’s birthright as a human. If you can breathe and you have a mouth, please come sing!

Barbara is a master voice coach, singer/songwriter, author and speaker. She is the author of Full Voice: The Art and Practice of Vocal Presence and has eight CDs of mostly original music. In 2007, she founded the Morning Star Singers, a volunteer comfort choir that sings for people facing illness, end of life, depression, or grief. Learn more at her website, barbaramcafee.com.

Raspberry Care & Cultivation Course I-IV, 2023

General Info

Maximum participants: 13

Minimum participants: 5

Ages: 16+

Instructors: Aiyana Sol Machado & Chrystal A. Odin

Cost: $600 ($150 per class, Sliding Scale options available*, Wealth Redistribution options available**)

Bring: Comfortable shoes for the season (tennis shoes, rubber boots, etc. . .), appropriate dress for the season (long sleeves, long pants, sun hats if necessary, etc. . .), and work gloves.

Through a partnership with Wild Path Collective, Philadelphia Community Farm is excited to announce the creation and launch of a one-year (1 yr) long Sacred Raspberry Care Course!

This 4-part series of hands-on & in-person classes are available to emerging growers and those interested in learning more about the health of soil and connecting to the Raspberry. Growing raspberries in your backyard garden or even in a large container on your patio is completely possible in our climate. You don’t need a lot of space to reap the benefits of raising your own fruits.

Wild Path Collective will host two (2) of the courses on-site at their campus. Classes will be co-taught by Camphill Village Communities Alum & Philadelphia Community Farm (PCF) Educator, Board Member, and Farmer Chrystal A. Odin; as well as owner operator of Kumbe Healing & Wellness, and Philadelphia Community Farm (PCF) Board Chair, Community Member, and Emerging Farmer Aiyana Sol Machado.

We will meet four (4) times a year, once in each season, for a full day of learning and community building. A homemade locally sourced meal will be provided on-site midway through the day (food restriction accommodations available upon registration).

We will learn to build a relationship with the Raspberry plant by way of a liberated approach to land stewardship. Classes will be facilitated utilizing a combination of practices: Earth-based; spiritual; somatic; critical self-reflection.

Education coursework draws on the PCF General Curriculum, developed on-site and taught to 250+ youth and adult students annually.

“PCF General Curriculum. . . aids in the development of process thinking, providing opportunities for critical self-reflection to flourish to bring humans back into connection with the whole.”

Participants can expect to learn through: Discussion, Q & A, Journaling, Circle-work, Community Building, Regenerative Farming Techniques, art & Somatic Experiences.

To Register head to our Linktree https://linktr.ee/philadelphia_community_farm

Sliding Scale: We offer a sliding scale to participants that are not able to pay full price and would benefit from access to our course work.

We recognize that individuals & communities are often unable to gain access to this course and similar courses due to a range of factors including and not limited to; racialized economic disparity, gender discrimination, rural economic disparity, age disparity, transportation access, etc. . .

If you are not able to afford this course due to marginalization of any kind, and are dreaming of being a part of something groundbreaking, please reach out to an educator via email to talk about alternate payment options.

Wealth Redistribution: We also recognize that those with the financial means to attend this course and courses similar, are at an access advantage supported by and not limited to capitalist and colonial structures of inequity. As such we strongly encourage those with the funds to support others in this coursework to donate to the PCF Access Support Fund for Food Independence & Education Access. By doing so you can ensure that you are uplifting all of our communities and increasing positive generational climate impact on our shared planet.

If you are unable to give online via credit or debit card, checks and money orders can be mailed to our address at: PO BOX 668 Osceola WI, 54020 Be sure to include: Education Access on the memo line of your check or money order.

If you are able to offer shared transportation, please reach out to an educator and we will assist in creating a ride-sharing network with you and other participants.

“We believe it is through the humility of holistic reconnection of human mind, body, & spirit with ourselves and our earth kin that we will be able to live out our greatest potentials; as land-stewards, culture-bearers, and seed-keepers; reorienting ourselves from apart from, to apart of, the sphere of Earth.” -- Aiyana Sol Machado & Chrystal A.
